High School Veterinary Career Exploration Program

Learn More About Becoming a Veterinarian!

vet animals

The Veterinary Medical Association of New York City (VMA of NYC) would like to encourage the youth of New York City to consider a career in the Veterinary Medicine field. High school students and parents are encouraged to attend a series of meetings as an introduction to veterinary medicine, veterinary school and different veterinary career paths.

The High School Veterinary Career Exploration Program will consist of four evening meetings with two guest speakers each night. The speakers will explore different aspects of veterinary medicine and share their personal stories about their specific career path. This year, speakers will include: Dr. John Sykes, associate veterinarian at the Bronx Zoo; Dr. Deirdre Chiaramonte, internal medicine specialist; Dr. Django Martel, veterinary dentist; Dr. Mark Gibson, small animal practice owner and others.

Applicants who attend 3 of 4 meetings will receive a Certificate of Completion.

This exciting opportunity is available for High School students interested in Veterinary Medicine.
